Imagine you were stuck in a hot desert with neither food nor water. The one and only thought that comes to mind is your desperate need to quench your thirst. And then, it starts to rain.
But you have no container to collect the water. You sip sparing drops of rain water with no satisfaction.
You have an umbrella and you ponder, ‘should I turn it ‘up-side-down’ to collect more rain drops and quench my thirst?’ This stimulates more thoughts.
Is this conventional? Is it hygienic? Should I leave myself to get wet? Then the big question; what should I actually do?
As CSOs, we have our own existing ‘desert moments’ that have persistently inhibited the efficiency of our work. There are times our organisations are faced with board governance challenges, resource mobilization and financial/grants management upheavals, image branding and visibility challenges. Sometimes, we are not conversant with suitable approaches to use in partnering with other CSOs. Our organisations may have enormous challenges with our policy advocacy and engagement strategies.
A variety of challenges beyond these, plague our organisations. These limit the ability of CSOs to fulfill their missions.
And then, the big question; what should be done now?
WACSI is your answer. We challenge you to register for WACSI’s courses and acquire skills that will enable you to ‘turn the umbrella upside down’.
