WACSI Approached to Empower CSOs in West Africa
WACSI continues to make strides in strengthening CSOs in West Africa. The contribution of WACSI in empowering CSOs with robust skills which enables them to make valuable contributions to development within their sphere of influence cannot be overemphasized.
WACSI’s effort has been recognized by CSOs and regional institutions in West Africa. Three institutions have approached the Institute to tailor its capacity development courses to suit the contextual needs of their staff or partners. This is to provide their staff and partners with knowledge and skills that will boost their job performance.
WACSI Trainings for IFES Partner Organisations
The International Foundation for Electoral Systems (IFES) approached WACSI in March 2012 to provide thirty (30) of its partners, mainly civil society organisations (CSOs) and media organisations in Niger with requisite knowledge and skills in Proposal Writing and Gender Mainstreaming. These trainings will hold successively from April 16 – 19 in Niamey, for two days each. IFES aims to empower beneficiaries to be able to write winning proposals. These trainings that will be provided by WACSI will enable the beneficiaries to understand and appreciate the process of effectively writing grant proposals. The gender mainstreaming component of the training will enable participants to be able to develop projects that recognize gender issues on a sustained basis. Both trainings are intended to provide the IFES partners in Niger with a deeper understanding of development related issues for better reporting.
WACSI Trainings for IBIS Partners
Under the IBIS West African Human Rights and Democratisation Project, IBIS partners in Ghana will benefit from trainings in Monitoring and Evaluation from April 11 – 13 and a Specialised Training in Policy Advocacy and Engagement from April 17 – 20, 2012. Both trainings will take place at Forest Hotel, Dodowa in Accra, Ghana. These trainings aim to empower project partners in Ghana – the media and civil society - to actively ensure compliance with human rights at local, national and regional levels and sustainable development in West Africa.
