Increased Access to Grant Making Resources
WACSI has joined the Foundation Center’s Cooperating Collection Network. The Institute is among the eleven (11) newly designated Collection Centers in 2012. Civil Society Organisations in West Africa now have immediate access to information about grantmakers in the United States of America, and tools for writing winning proposals. Through this resourceful collaboration with the Foundation Center, the Institute provides information to civil society across West Africa philanthropists and grant givers based in the United States of America.
As a Cooperating Collection Center, WACSI provides under-resourced and underserved West African civil society actors and organisations in need of vital information and training with tools they can use to become successful grantseekers. The Institute now offers free access to the Foundation Center’s rich information resources on grantmakers and how to apply for grants.
The Foundation Center’s core collection includes The Foundation Directory Online, profiling more than 100,000 U.S. grantmakers, Foundation Grants to Individuals Online, Philanthropy In/Sight, print directories, and proposal writing guides. WACSI will hold training sessions in 2012 on how to effectively use these resources and identify potential funders.
Established in 1956, the Foundation Center is America’s leading authority on organized philanthropy, serving grantseekers, grantmakers, researchers, policymakers, the media, and the general public.
WACSI’s partnership with the Foundation Center falls in line with the Institute’s commitment to continue as a reliable civil society resource hub for training and research in the sub-region.
