Call for Contributions: Upcoming ISTRAN Newsletters

The International Society for Third Sector Research Africa Network (ISTRAN) is a community of scholars, practitioners and policy makers who share an interest in and concern for civil society organisations (CSOs), the form they take, their role and how they function on the African content. Network members only have the opportunity to meet at the biennial regional conference and sometimes at the international ISTR conference, which also takes place every other year. As a result, they have limited opportunities to share information and be updated on developments in the field.
The purpose of the ISTRAN newsletter, among others, is to try and address this shortcoming by providing a more frequent and accessible platform for members to share their opinions and research. It is also a platform for members to share and receive information about civil society related developments, relevant research, new and/or interesting publications as well as available opportunities.

The ISTRAN secretariat, therefore, invites you to contribute to the upcoming April and July newsletters

Contributed articles should cover topics related to CSOs and space within which they operate. The topics need not be limited to Africa. Relevant international topics are also welcomed. All submitted articles must be submitted with a portrait photograph of the author.

Submissions may include:
1.Articles, which are in-depth discussions of topics of interest. Articles around philanthropy, civil society and related discussions are encouraged, but more general articles are also welcome.
2.News items and announcements such as:
•Relevant calls for papers for special journal issues, workshops and conferences
•Conference and workshop report
•New publications
•Reviews of publications
•Regional developments
•New research projects
•Project reports

Articles selected for publication will be proofread for content, spelling and grammatical errors by a professional editor.
Word Count:
Articles - 1000 to 1500 words
News items – 50 to 200 words

The deadlines for contributions are the 15 March 2017 for the April edition and 15th June, 2017 for the July edition. Submissions can be emailed to Augustina Odame at and copy research
