Policy Advocacy and Engagement Training for CSOs in Senegal - Post Training Evaluation Report (March 2010)
The West Africa Civil Society Institute (WACSI) in collaboration with the Local Government and Public Service Reform Initiative, of the Open Society Institute (LGI-OSI) and the Open Society Initiative for West Africa (OSIWA) organised a 5-day training workshop in Policy Engagement and Advocacy in Dakar, Senegal from 15 - 19 March, 2010.
The 5-day training aims to develop the capacity of civil society actors in West Africa to more effectively engage a broad range of stakeholders in an attempt to influence the policy-making processes of regional governments. By providing knowledge and skills in the production of evidence-based policy papers and in the planning of policy advocacy campaigns, the training seeks to provide the tool to help CSOs to hold governments accountable and also to push for their own agendas. The training is expected to contribute towards enhancing the role of civil society as an indispensable partner in the promotion of good governance, democracy,peacebuilding and participatory development processes.
Policy Advocacy and Engagement Training for CSOs in Liberia - Post Training Evaluation Report (March 2010)
The 5-day training which held from 4 - 8 March, 2010 sought to develop the capacity of civil society actors in Liberia to more effectively engage all policy stakeholders in an attempt to influence the policy-making processes of regional governments. The training was organized to equip participants with the strategic insight, skills and resources relevant to design policy-relevant advocacy campaigns and communications tools that deliver a compelling policy position and so, achieve desired policy objectives.
Fundraising, Monitoring and Evaluation - Post Training Evaluation Report, Abidjan Cote D'Ivoire (September, 2009)
The West Africa Civil Society Institute (WACSI) in collaboration with the Coalition de la Société Civile pour la Paix et le Développement Démocratique en Cote d’Ivoire (COSOPCI) and La Convention dela Société Civile Ivoirienne (CSCI) supported by the Open Society Initiative for West Africa (OSIWA) organised a “Fundraising and Monitoring and Evaluation” training from 1 - 3 September, 2009 for 27 representatives of civil society organisations in Cote d’Ivoire, Abidjan.
The overall objective of the workshop was to provide participants with knowledge and skills in strengthening on planning, strategising and implementing fundraising approaches; identifying funding sources and appropriate techniques to secure funds from donors and philanthropists; addressing challenges civil society face in fundraising; understanding the fundamentals of designing and implementing a monitoring and evaluation (M&E) system for a project or an organisation; and providing a comprehensive overview of a sample of M&E tools, methods, and approaches, including their purpose and use; advantages and disadvantages and key references.
Corporate Governance Training for CSO's in Togo - Training Evaluation Report (May 2009)
The West Africa Civil Society Institute (WACSI) supported by the Open Society Initiative for West Africa (OSIWA) organised a “Corporate Governance” training for 30 representatives of civil society organisations in Togo. The overall goal of the training was to provide CSOs in Togo with knowledge and skills in strengthening accountability mechanisms, maximising the Board’s role and efficiency, developing effective reporting structures, and enhancing financial management.
