The West Africa Civil Society Institute (WACSI) invites development partners interested in collaborating with and strengthening civil society in West Africa to a one-day regional conference themed: Civil Society and Civic Culture: Financing Capacity Building for Social Change in West Africa.

Programme Information

Date: 22nd April 2013

Venue: Alisa Hotel, Accra, Ghana.

The conference aims to draw attention to the prevalent capacity challenges confronting CSOs as change agents and neutral platforms for deepening civic culture in West Africa. The conference which seeks to convene about forty (40) development partners representing donor agencies, local and international foundations, International non-governmental organizations (INGOs) and philanthropists together would be used to mobilise consensus on and for strategic capacity assistance for CSOs in the region.

WACSI was established by the Open Society initiative for West Africa (OSIWA) to reinforce the capacities of civil society in the region by bridging the evident institutional and operational gaps. WACSI strongly believes that strengthening civil society capacity to adequately and effectively partner government and the private sector will bolster its credibility and legitimacy, broaden the space for engagement and contribute to sustainable and equitable development in West Africa.

As an active donor and committed development partner, WACSI would be honoured to have you participate in this regional conference.
