RESULT BASED MONITORING EVALUATION AND COMMUNICATING IMPACT - INTERVIEW WITH CHRIS OGBONNA

The interest for attending training on monitoring and evaluation evolved from his need to have basic knowledge on monitoring and evaluation.

Ogbonna did not regret participating in this training. Although he has been involved in different M&E activities, participating in the training has built on the prior knowledge he had and has made it more concrete.

“There are many things that stood out for me during the training among which is the result chain logic, logic of intervention and most importantly, the area of communicating impact”, he said.

He considered the session on Communicating Impact to be a panacea to a longstanding challenge he faced within his organization; to tell their stories effectively and loudly.

By participating in this training, Ogbonna is optimistic about the relevance of the training. He has identified some gaps in his performance that will be addressed with lessons derived from the training. Ogbonna also affirmed that this training has given him more reason to be results oriented.

“This training has helped me to know when and what to check with my teams especially the M&E team”, he admitted.

He also emphasized that he has become more aware of what to look out for from the staff and activities he supervises.

Ogbonna is satisfied because he considers the training to be a great boost to his skills set. He sees the training as a means to progress on the carrier ladder as he realized that with the increase opportunities in Nigeria and the requirement of some technical skills such as M&E, he has the potential of growing faster.
